How to Choose the Right Mirror for Your Home

Reflecting the beauty of your interior spaces through the use of mirrors is not only a classy way to improve your space, but it’s quite simple too! Mirrors help to enlarge a space by giving it dimensionality, while simultaneously reflecting light, making a space feel brighter and more open.  Here's how you can choose the right mirror for your home!

There are endless styles of mirrors to choose from, from a simple rectangular mirror with a wood trim to a series of smaller round mirrors to something very ornate, it is ultimately up to you to decide your taste! Once you have found your perfect mirror(s), it is time to decide the location. The placement of your mirror(s) is crucial.  First of all, you want to be sure to place you mirrors on walls perpendicular to window walls, rather than across from the.  Mirrors placed directly opposite windows can often reflect light right back outside.  You also want to make sure the size of your mirror will work with the space you have intended it for.  Mirrors can be displayed in every and any room of a house, but a common location that designer utilize mirrors is in a foyer or entrance.  As these spaces typically lack great amounts of light, the addition of mirror can help to create an opportunity for light reflection!

If you’re looking to make a big statement, a large mirror propped up against a wall with seating in front is sure to do the trick.  A series of small round or square mirrors work great above a bed or fireplace, while a funky shaped or ornate mirror can help make a statement in a foyer or small sitting room.  Don’t be afraid to add a mirror to your outdoor space either, just remember to make sure it is weather safe!  Another common tactic used by designers is creating a gallery wall with a series of multiple, mirrors of all different sizes.  This can again increase light reflection in a darker space, but it can also create a magnificent statement!
