Why We Love the Wallpaper Trend

When people say wallpaper, we typically think of our grandma’s dingy den or the many faux pas of the 1980’s. 

Well that just isn’t the case anymore. 

Wallpaper is back! And it’s more stylish than ever. Instead of spending weeks on painting faux finishes or debating on which patterned upholstery to go with, rest assured you can have the best of both worlds with the wallpaper trends out right now. We’re seeing everything, from fun pops of color and texture to wallpaper that tell whimsical stories and bring together the style of the space. 

It can be tricky to incorporate patterned wallpaper everywhere in the home without it looking overwhelming. Here are a few of our suggestions in order to have the perfect flow throughout the home. 

Mix solids and patterns: Make sure the wallpaper is more subtle and simple if you’re pairing it with a loud patterned rug or upholstery. The two shouldn't compete for attention! On the other hand, if you have solid upholstery, feel free to get a little more bold with the wallpaper color and pattern.

Which room and where: Since you want the space to flow from one room to another and avoid clashing, pick a powder room or entryway area that is small enough to not overpower the look. If you have a more open floor plan, choose an accent wall or focal point to highlight with your paper of choice and leave the remaining walls a solid paint that coordinate with a color in the wallpaper. 

So here are some of our favorite trends to keep an eye out for: embroidered wallpaper to give that extra interest in texture, glamorous metallics, embellished art deco with beading or glittery detail, floral or jungle prints, and timeless geometric patterns. 

Don’t be afraid to embrace wallpaper in your home to give the space that adventurous detail. These trends are bound to give the room the “wow” factor it deserves!
